They are easily accessible by plane, train, bus and car. Plane: There will be shuttle buses from Detroit Metro Airport and Lansing Capital City Airport to the hotel. Usually connection flights from Detroit or Chicago to Lansing are available at no (or a low) extra cost and you should check with your travel agency. Connection flights from Chicago O'Hare to Lansing are available from United Airlines and from Cleveland by Continental. Spartan Travel, the official travel agency of MSU, is a good and experienced service. Train: There is (infrequent) Amtrak service to East Lansing. To arrange pickup, please contact Jens Hoefkens. Bus: There is a Greyhound station in downtown Lansing within walking distance to the hotel. When leaving the station start by going north on S Washington Ave towards E Lenawee St. After 200 meter S Washington Ave becomes Washington Square S. Turn right onto E Kalamazoo St and after another 200 meter turn left onto S Grand Ave. Car: Lansing is located on I-96. To get to the hotel turn from I-96 to I-496 and exit at Pennsylvania Ave (7) towards Larch St/Cedar St. Turn right onto S Larch St and after about 0.5 kilometers turn left onto E Michigan Ave. Finally make a right turn onto N Grand Ave. Two Mapquest maps of the Lansing Area can be found here and here. The following links provide some information on touristic attractions in Michigan for those considering an extended visit.
Shuttle ServiceArrival:All participants arriving at Lansing Capital City Airport should use the courtesy phone provided in the baggage claim area of the airport to contact the Radisson Hotel and arrange for pick up by the Radisson Shuttle service. This phone call should be made before the actual baggage claim to allow the shuttle to get to the airport in time. Participants arriving at Detroit Metro Airport will be picked up at the airport. All participants that have registered with the Travel Information Entry Form will receive an email with detailed information on the shuttles. A map of the airport terminals with the meeting points can be found here. The red dot marks the point where the shuttles will be. Note that they will be on the lower level of the terminal (close to the baggage claim areas). The green dot marks the Starbucks coffee shop where participants should meet while waiting for the shuttles. The shop is on the upper level of the terminal. Departure: Bus shuttles will depart from the Michigan State University Campus on Sunday at 12:15 PM. All participants will be transfered to either Lansing Capital City Airport or Detroit Metro Airport directly. The approximate arrival times will be 12:45 PM and 2 PM respectively. Buses for the Henry Ford Museum will also leave at 12:15 PM from the Michigan State University Campus and will arrive at the Museum at approximately 2 PM. The Museum closes at 5 PM which is when the Buses will leave to Detroit Metro Airport to arrive there at 5:20 PM. There will be two smaller shuttles leaving from the museum to Detroit Metro Airport and Lasning Airport at 4 PM. They will arrive at 4:20 PM and 5:45 PM respectively. If individual travel plans conflict with these schedules, contact Jens Hoefkens (preferably before the meeting) to resolve any problems.
